About Me

Hello, I am Jo, a CPCAB qualified counselling therapist and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I use the person-centred approach for individuals seeking support on a range of issues from general life problems to work-related challenges. Therapy and my journey into becoming a counsellor has been life changing. The two went hand in hand; genuine empathy and positive regard transformed who I am as a person.

I understand that there are many parts of your identity that can shape who you are, how you feel and your experiences. I can bring cultural awareness to our sessions; understanding and respecting the impact of your background on your life and well-being.

Counselling sessions:

I offer short and long-term counselling sessions for adults (18+) online or by telephone. In-person sessions are available on request. Fees are £70.00 per session and last 50-minutes. I also offer concessions for those on low incomes/benefits. Please ask me for more information.

Location:

I work online and via telephone across the UK. For in person sessions I am based close to Buckhurst Hill, South Woodford and East London / Essex. To book an appointment please call or text 07593 186 389 or email contact@rethinkyou.co.uk.

My Background

My background and career are a mixture of both private and public sectors enabling invaluable insight and a breadth of experience which supports my role as a counsellor. I offer a safe space, separate from the rest of your life, where the aim is to rethink you using person centred therapy. It is widely believed that the counselling relationship is the most important aspect of therapy and given the right conditions, drives the best outcomes.

Unfortunately, it is more usual to be heard but not understood. There is a vast difference between the two and regrettably many of us have experienced this and how it impacts on our lives. My practice also gives space for individuals from varying cultural and religious backgrounds where it can be even harder than usual to seek therapy. This could be due to constraints placed by us or others or simply through a lack of knowledge and understanding as to what counselling is.

I am an individual who appreciates the nuances of intersectionality, as it has shaped who I am and is a part of my reality. Being intersectional has been part of ensuring that I always take a holistic view of my clients.
